The Challenge Mountain Endowment Fund was set up many years ago through the Charlevoix Community Foundation as a place to put funds that were given to Challenge Mountain, for some, as a memorial to others. The idea being that we could always use the money to purchase something that could be used for a program but with the endowment fund the money lasts “forever”.
With the endowment fund a person donating money can take advantage of the best tax benefits that can be offered. An individual donating funds can take a direct credit on taxes rather than a deduction. Challenge Mountain cannot take any money from the principal in the fund thus all the donated funds stay intact. Each year the Challenge Mountain board is given a percentage of the interest earned to use for purposes such as scholarships, programs, or equipment. The board can also leave the interest in the fund to help grow the fund.
To give to the endowment fund make a check out to the Charlevoix Community Foundation and specify that it is for Challenge Mountain. You will receive an acknowledgment from both the Foundation and Challenge Mountain.Be sure to specify in the "memo" field of your check that it is for Challenge Mountain.
